On the 20th July the Mayors Annual Volunteer Awards took place at the Town Hall in Reigate. The awards are specifically to recognise the hard work, commitment and dedication to many different causes by individuals and teams across the borough. Nearly fifty volunteers and volunteer teams were presented with certificates by the Mayor including one presented to long standing Reigate Business Guild Director and ex-Chairman, Shirley Cox. As well as running successful Reigate florist, Willows, Shirley has given 18 years to the smooth running of the Guild being integral to its success it now enjoys today.
With over 100 members including many of the towns independent shops and corporates the guild is going from strength to strength and continues to fly the flag for the Reigate businesses having forged great relationships with the council, local councillors and Reigate and Banstead Police. Shirley has been responsible for the ever popular Reigate Christmas Fayre and gives up so much time to make the big day a huge success. She really does do great things for our town and we’re all very grateful for the great work she has done and continues to do.
Jes Chandler, The Chair of the Guild said: “Shirley has always shown such enthusiastic commitment to Reigate Business Guild and is a great supporter of everything the guild sets out to achieve. Her support to both myself and the board of directors is invaluable, as is her connection to the retail element of the High Street, we would be lost without her”
