The Reigate Business Guild have raised £7,000 for MNDA (Motor Neuron disease) and for the Christmas lights in the town. The annual golf day is attended by guild members who bring along their guests to thrash it out over the 18 holes at the beautiful Betchworth Park Golf Club. The day was supported by many of the towns local businesses by either attending or donating one of the many raffle prizes. The winners of the much coveted trophy were the team from Reigate High Street estate agent, White and Sons.
Peter Mitchell from organisers Mitchell and Company said “The day was a great success and enjoyed by all. On course refreshments were supplied by the Pilgrim Brewery and the golf was followed by a fabulous dinner. Dave Setters, a local man, who is suffering from MND spoke inspirationally about the disease and how it affects the individual and also the immediate family. He touched everyone in the room and had a standing ovation.
A raffle and auction followed with prizes being supplied by mainly local businesses and individuals and the day is expected to raise around £7000.
The high point of the auction was getting £700 for a 5kg Turkey supplied by Robert Edwards!”.
Jes Chandler, Chairman of The Reigate Business Guild said “From start to finish the day was a fantastic success with 24 local business teams supporting a great community effort and making a significant donation to charity at the same time. The day was brilliantly organised by Peter Mitchell and his team from Mitchell & Co, and it was great to see a new winner pick up the trophy in White and Sons, who have now offered to provide a replacement trophy to the current 18 year old trophy. A great day, with great support, on a fantastic golf course, we very much appreciate the support of all on the day, and the local businesses who provided both raffle and auction prizes ”
